Project Overview:

The 66kV line between Kopu and Coroglen is the original 50kV line built in the 1950’s by New Zealand Electricity Department. The line was constructed of light conductor, and travels through some rugged terrain to bring electricity supply to the upper Coromandel Peninsula.

Due to substantial increases in loading from the property explosion, the line is not sufficiently rated to carry the peak loads required.

Powerco identified that the line needed to be reconductored and up-rated to operate at 110kV in the future. The line upgrade project for the project works to date has an approximate value of $1.5 million.

Edison Delivery:

Edison was engaged by PowerCo to act as project manager, working closely with the network planning department to provide tender documents, materials resourcing and contract management skills.

Liaison with the Department of Conservation for access to poles sites transpired smoothly.

Client Feedback:

“Edison provided an excellent project management service. They simply got on with the job and made it easy for us to achieve delivery to budget and timeframe.”
