Terrence Ibasco: My Edison Experience

"I’ve always loved solving problems by looking at a challenge, figuring it out, and then explaining it clearly. That’s where I thrive."

More than one hat

You wear a lot of hats working in consulting. I manage projects, but I’m still hands-on with the technical side, and I love that. I actually came out of the rail sector, which surprises a lot of people.

Outside of work, I play for two all-original bands, FUEGO and Letra Luna. It’s sparked some great conversations and connections at the office.

What makes Edison different

Definitely the people. You’ll find similar technical work elsewhere, but you won’t find this culture. We’re the right size. Big enough to do great work, small enough that your voice is heard. The camaraderie here is real.

Respect and integrity guide my work

Respect and integrity matter, especially in Design, where safety is everything. That’s the Edison value that stands out to me the most. Be upfront, honest, and take ownership of your work, bringing positivity to every situation.

My defining project

The Kohia Substation project was a defining moment. It stretched me in every direction. I sometimes call it my Mona Lisa. Becoming a Design Team Leader has been another big step too. I really enjoy mentoring others and helping them grow.

Advice for future engineers

Put your hand up. Say yes! I started in one discipline but took every opportunity to learn as much as I could. Let things simmer too. Don’t rush onto the next thing once you finish a project. By applying what you’ve learned, your confidence and impact will grow.
