An exciting opportunity for an experienced leader

The Chief Executive is a new position at the forefront of developing and delivering Edison’s strategic objectives. With a strong understanding of the electricity industry and NZ’s carbon neutral targets, this role represents a sizeable challenge, and fantastic opportunity for an authentic, energetic, and engaging senior leader.

Reporting to and working closely with the Board Chair, you will lead, direct, and manage a thriving and profitable business that maximises sustainable returns; and achieves the full potential of Edison’s reputation and opportunities throughout NZ. You will lead a high performing team to ensure our engineering services are delivered and new business opportunities are capitalised on.

The breadth of the role requires a leader who can work effectively in the electricity industry with a wide range of industry stakeholders, primarily in generation, distribution, and transmission. The industry is embarking on an exciting period of growth, particularly in the pursuit of sustainability goals. Therefore, we offer:

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Ten plus years senior leadership experience, involving direct experience with boards.
  • Understanding of the economic drivers of major engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Experience:-
    • At assessing engineering project resource requirements and RFx submissions.
    • At sub-contractor management and outsourcing for large utilities companies.
    • In long term development of professionally qualified staff (attraction and retention).
    • Leading professional and supportive teams nationally or regionally.
  • The ability to build and strengthen a strong team culture that embraces high performance and innovation.
  • The ability to build and grow strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable financial acumen and ability to deliver efficient and effective business outcomes.
  • A strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Alignment with Edison’s values; Integrity, professionalism, achievement, fairness and wellbeing.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A deep understanding of the regulatory frameworks of the electricity industry and civil engineering would be advantageous.
