Henry is a Senior Project Manager who thrives on collaboration and variety. He brings a big-picture mindset to every project and values the strong team culture at Edison.
I genuinely enjoy working with others to achieve a common goal. That’s what drew me into project management in the first place. I started out doing ground investigations at a large engineering consultancy, and when I learned they had a project management arm, it stood out as something I’d enjoy. Project Management aligns with what I love doing: working alongside people with different skills to deliver shared outcomes.
Most people are surprised to hear I studied geology at university. Now I lead solar farm projects, and more recently, I’ve focused on the electrical and grid connection side of things. Coming from a different background has been a real strength. It helps me see the whole picture, not just the electricity portion.
The people, hands down. I’m mostly based in the Christchurch office, but I’ve also spent time seconded to clients. Coming back to the team is always refreshing. We’ve built a great culture, and we have fun. Every year we enter a six-hour mountain bike race as a team, and we won our category last year.
I also appreciate the variety. We’re not a huge consultancy at this stage, so you get the chance to do a bit of everything. That keeps the work interesting.
Open communication and positivity really stand out to me. They align with me personally. There is a lot of industry noise out there, but these values help us stay focused on what matters. And because they feel like a natural fit, they’re easy to live by.
With electrification gaining momentum across the country, the opportunities are huge. Everyone wants everything electrified. Edison is growing, and we’re building a strong position in the market. I want to be part of that and continue developing my career here.
Be open to new opportunities and follow your passion. I studied one thing, explored other options, and now I’ve found something I really enjoy. That journey is what brought me here, and I’m glad I took the leap.
