Good People - Great Results. Edison helps protect a listed heritage building as it's strengthened to house 21st century transformers plus we project manage a new substation build in Northland and two new people join our team.

Arapuni Power Station

Constructed in the 1920's and 30's and now a listed heritage building, Arapuni Power Station originally housed single phase transformers weighing approximately 15 tonne. An upgrade in 1999 meant new 3 phase units were installed and extensive foundation modifications were made however times have changed and with ongoing transformer fleet replacements Mighty River Power needed to further strengthen the floor to accomodate heavier units of up to 70 tonne.

Edison was engaged to project manage and deliver the construction and commissioning stages of the project including scope and concept development, detailed design contract managment, construction and stakeholder management, operation handover and close out activities. Using a combination of self compacting and normal concrete the job was completed well within time and budget.

Wiroa Road - Stage One

Edison's client Top Energy owns the electricity lines network supplying 30,000 electricity consumers in the mid and far north areas of the North Island. Top Energy has constructed and commissioned a strategically important electricity substation about five kilometres west of Kerikeri on Wiroa Road. This is the first stage of the $9.8 million substation project which, when completed, will connect the new 33kV Kerikeri network with the new 110kV transmission line from Kaikohe.

Edison provided a client side project management and commissioning service, with a focus on ensuring all works were carried out safely, while minimising outages and reducing the disruption caused to the network throughout the project works.
