Project Overview:
Powerco has embarked on a programme to install 11kV and 33kV Ripple Injection Plants at substations throughout their network.
The programme includes 14 sites and requires a specialist skill set to ensure minimum disruption during the upgrades.
The key challenge for the project delivery team was to identify and resolve issues relative to spillover of ripple signal into neighboring areas and investigate and provide solutions to signal interference that was experienced due to capacitor bank installations in the area.
Edison Delivery:
On the first site upgrade, the project team undertook significant amounts of testing to identify existing network parameters so as to seamlessly introduce the newer technology on to an older system. As a result all Powerco upgrades now undergo a robust testing regime to ensure minimal disruption to the network.
The experience Edison now has in these ripple injection plant upgrades means that the project delivery team is able to confidently handle installation, testing and commissioning of all ripple injection plant projects with minimal disruption to customers.
